Joining CEIRP is easy – and investing in your future is worth a few minutes

To get started there are just a few things you need to do:

  • Get started by contacting your Local/Guild’s member services – they’re there to help answer any questions you may have and connect you with your plan administrator!

    • Review your CEIRP enrolment package and choose your investing approach
    • After you’ve completed the enrolment process, Canada Life will send you an email to confirm your account and to register for online access

  • Register on MyCanadaLifeAtWork.com – this is how you will have access to your account and make any changes.

  • Make sure you read emails from CEIRP to keep up-to-date on news, useful account information and other financial tips to help you reach your goals.

Note:

If you’re a member of more than one participating union local or guild…

You only need to enrol for CEIRP once, but you must designate a Home Division (for administrative purposes). This will make sure your payroll contributions from all sources get deposited into your account. Be sure to discuss designating a Home Division with your plan administrator.

Helping you choose your investments

Everyone’s comfort level with investing is different, so CEIRP offers you flexibility in how you save your money. From the “set it and forget it” approach, to those who prefer to be hands-on and involved, you can choose from these options:

No Touch

If you want a simple, easy choice, Cadence Target Date Funds offer a single-fund solution that leaves the decisions to investment professionals.

All you have to do is select the Cadence fund.

  • The fund that’s closest to the year you turn age 65 will automatically be selected for you. That’s it.
  • You can change it later if you plan to retire at a different age.
  • The mix of investments in the fund automatically becomes more conservative as you get closer to your retirement date.

Low Touch

If you want to choose your risk level and adjust over time, Portfolio Target Risk Funds are tailored to different levels of risk tolerance that range from conservative to aggressive. It’s this easy:

  • Just use the Plan your retirement tool on MyCanadaLifeAtWork.com for step-by-step guidance to help you determine your investor profile.
  • Then simply choose the Portfolio Fund that matches your risk profile. Done.

Once you determine your investor profile, you can choose to build your own portfolio on MyCanadaLifeAtWork.com from the investment options offered in the plan.

  • Funds include the SRI Balanced Fund, a five-year guaranteed investment account and a Daily Interest account. You monitor and change your investment options. You’ve got the power!
  • Keep in mind that planning for retirement is a long-term goal. Speak to one of our three Investment and Retirement Managers, or an investment specialist of your choice, if you prefer.
